At checkup yesterday had a little early periodontal disease/gum recession. In addition to a prescription toothpaste I was given, apparently electric toothbrushes are better. But which one? Sonicare or Oral B? There is a study from the NIH that shows better improving gum scores with the Sonicare, and there are other studies that show Oral B being better. So which one is the best for gum health?

My dentist recommended the Sonicare. I think it’s the 4100 to be specific

I got both and sonicare is the better one for teeth. but maybe oral b would be more gentle.

Either is fine as long as you get the ultrasonic and not just the one that spins. I personally use a Sonicare.

Not a dentist, but I'm almost done with dental school. I have the Oral B iO. I like that it tells you when you're brushing too hard, which can cause gum recession. There's a little LED ring that turns from green to red if you're pushing too hard. I've had a Sonicare before and liked it as well.

Get the Bluetooth tooth brush. Connects to phone or iPad. The screen has bugs on it. As you brush the bugs get swept away. Never missing a tooth. Kids love-em.

That's what's causing my problems. Electric toothbrush was recommended to stop gum damage.

If you get a vibrating tooth brush it has multiple uses.

That's what I've heard, but have no clue what else it would get used for at my house.

Floss, before brushing at night, to go to bed. Makes a big difference in tooth care. I've been using an Oral B electric for several years and rarely have any plaque at 6 month checkups. She always tells me what a great job I have been doing. It's the toothbrush mainly.
