It appears I got confused in ordering my roll crimpers from GAEP. I ended up receiving the BN2 crimp finisher models, when I think I needed the OTP… however I tried these out and it seems these make a fine roll crimp. Any one use these crimpers and am I good to go? Or should I order the OTP.

I use the bn3 as a finish crimper. Could not get my Mec adjusted well enough for the Fio hulls so I just left it for the STS hulls and use the finish crimper on my buckshot loads that I use for predators. I have done a lot of pattern testing and I dont get the results from roll crimps as others do

In case anyone was wondering I ended up rolling several 410 loads with the BN2 last night. It took some getting used to and will still take a few shells more to get honed in on it, but ended up making some decent crimps and my test shell threw a good pattern at 25 yards.

I load some 410 on a mec loader and it does fine with the hulls that i adjusted it for. On the other hulls, I firmly seat a tight overshot card and glue it in with duco cement. No noticeable difference in patterns. I also load brass 410 the same way. What I have learned is that an overshot card in larger gauges produces poor patterns at 40 yds. and beyond.. At the short range that I shoot a 410, I cant tell any difference in the fold crimp hulls and the ones with overshot wads. 410 hulls are getting impossible to find, I bought some factory shell a while back and should do me as little as I shoot the 410. Im happy to hear thats its working for you. Enjoy your shooing

They quit roll crimping 60 years ago because everyone knows the shot card could cause blown patterns. That was all the hype and reasoning to stop roll crimping.

Shot card = Blown Pattern in my testing as well. Some dude made this all up in his basement to sell TSS who didn't know what he was doing IMO.

The overshot card does not make a discernible difference in pattern density or uniformity in my humble opinion

I agree with all the negatives in this thread. Nobody should ever use a roll crimp or TSS.

The gaep crimp finishers are awesome for keeping fold crimps from opening up. They will increase pressures significantly. I have sent off shells for testing and with a bn3 on a stout 1 5/8 20 gauge tss load it boosted the pressure by 2,000.

Just fyi

Are you saying you had a fold crimped 20ga load that you finished with the BN3 that increased pressure, or did a standard roll crimp with an
Overshot card with the BN3 and it increased the pressure over another roll crimper like the OTP?
