Being a North Alabama hill dweller I don't get to fish salt water very often and have never caught a Sheepshead. Are they top notch on a plate with hushpuppies or kinda like eating shark? Kinda hard to clean, but dang fine table fair. Lot of people call it Poot Man’s Crab. Boil it with crab boil and it’s a pretty good substitute.

They taste real good. Not a whole lot of meat on them for the size fish they are. It is some fun easy fishing though.

I'm not so sure I want to try it now. I get what you're saying though. Kinda like Trigger, mostly head, scales and guts but the meat is great.

Excellent table fare, you get a decent filet off of a 16 in fish, I like the. Between 16-20 inches, they have a big rib cage and tuff scales plenty of videos on YouTube on how to clean them not to bad once you get the hang of it

They have started showing up around the platforms. Haven’t seen any big ones yet. I look around the pilings about 50 times a day for 7 days in a row lol.
