Got an odd pic after pulling a cam I left out most of the season. On 11-14-2023, I had pics of a spotted fawn. Not a new born spotted fawn but several weeks old. Never seen one in Bankhead this late. At first I thought my dates were off but as I checked pics the snow confirmed the dates were correct. Didnt completely loose spots until 2nd week of Dec. So here is where I need Matt to chime in. Ima say Mamma doe was bred mid March so with 200 day gestation fawn would have been born Mid-late September. This is extremely odd because in that area most of our rut activity is Mid to late Nov. I personally killed a big 9pt chasing Nov 18th couple years ago at the same spot. I usually see fawn on cams starting in mid June to July. Matt does this math look about right to you? Our bucks started dropping antlers in Jan. This goes to show you that you can never tell about nature. FYI this area is dead in the middle of Bankhead right on the Winston/Lawrence Co line.
Its not the will to win but the will to prepare to win!

If the fawn lost spots around the second week of December, the doe would have been bred late January/early February, with the fawn being born mid August.
We have a fawn on our place that has just lost spots in the last week.
