I have a bleedmoor and shoot light ballistic tips . 🫢 It kills stuff pretty dead 290 lb Mule deer 320 yards -deceased 5 yard track job 270 lb whitetail in Kansas 200 yards - deceased DRT 2 150 lb bucks in bama - deceased DRT 2 does - deceased DRT
I don’t hate or love it . I think I would have gotten the same results from most any deer caliber. A deers “will to live” is nonsense if you shoot it in the heart or lungs . My .02 cents
been a few times though ive shot them in the ass . i aint one to wait on the them to get just right so i can shoot . lol

I don't think some of y'all understand what I am talking about when I say light for caliber bullets.
6.5 Manbun runs about neck and neck with the 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser. The Swedish Mauser has probably killed everything that walks the face of this earth I would not doubt including some Elephants. This is because of the penetration potential of the 6.5 bullets. They have killed tens of thousands of moose in Norway and Sweden. Moose you say? Believe it.
How can this be when y'all can't seem to cleanly kill a whitetail? Answer = Shoot larger bullets. They shoot something around 155 grains at Moose. This is a pretty simple concept.
STOP turning your rifle into pea shooter with your little magic bullets. Shoot 140's and you won't have a problem. If you do continue to have a problem the only explanation is you can't shoot. You suck. Take up Golf and stop shooting does in the ass. 127s out of the cm I have and it may be the deadliest rifle I have. I don’t tote it much but it’s got 8+ 200 pound deer under its belt between 90 and 350 yards. And I have shot or watched them be shot at about every angle that you can kill a deer. The results are all the same. But I do shoot Barnes so there’s that

My Bergara premier approach in 6.5 creedmoor is my favorite rifle right now because it's the most accurate. But now that I'm thinking about it I really like my .270 too...

I've hunted fifty years. I had good luck with a 7mag back in the mid-eighties and pretty much stuck with it, save a .257 or .300 Roy for extraordinary work. I've never shot nor owned a 6.5 of any flavor so I don't have a dog in the fight, but I do have a close personal friend who owns a hunting lodge. This time last year, he told me they had yet to find a deer on his property that had been shot with a 6.5. This certainly isn't a very scientific statement but I remember it made me stop and take notice when he said it.

I don’t know your friend but I find that the “yet to find a deer” statement to be over exaggerated. I’m just gonna leave it right there.

If you don’t always wait for a good shot or get target panic or just not the best shot you need to shoot a big gun .one where if you can see brown in the scope it’s gonna kill . Most people sight their gun in to “1 minute of pie plate” and call it good enough .

I toted a 7 mag for 20+ years and endured that punishment every trigger pull. Four years ago I bought a 6.5 cm to try out. I put a can on it and a Swarovski X5i and it was a stone cold killer. So far it’s 12 for 12 on 4.5 year or older bucks in Alabama and only three of them ran after impact with only one of those making it out of sight before he dropped. With the light recoil, the accuracy; and what I’ve witnessed first hand with killing power, I don’t ever see me going back to the 7 mag.
So say what you want but I’d put that round against any of them on the bench or in the woods.

we are all now more dumb having clicked on this…. Yep….. Reading any thread that is titled 6.5 Creedmore, Crocs, or written by Burbank is bound to make you lose a few IQ points…………. You apparently didn't learn how to spell Creedmoor in this thread... In full disclosure, Ive never seen one, not a gun enthusiast ,dont know why these things trigger such a reaction..but I did say reading these kreedmore threads make you lose IQ..

I’ve got a Model Seven chambered in 6.5 CM. With 130gr TGK’s it’s bad juju on Bama deer.

I think it's best to just stick with y'alls .243s. Y'all don't need a 6.5 anyway.

I've got no skin in this game so I'm not taking sides................but I've never understood the argument that specific calibers were perfectly fine for deer because "if you do your job/put the bullet where it's supposed to go, it stops them in their tracks". But hell, a .22lr will kill a deer dead if you center-punch them in the heart.
I realize every poster on this here chit-chat board is the reincarnation of Carlos Hathcock, but for other folks that are more human, it seems you'd want something as forgiving as possible, not something that "gets the job done every time, as long as you do your job."

True but IMO. You can go too big, causing accuracy issues from recoil flinch. I had great luck with deer with my 270. I was way more accurate off the bench with a 308 with lighter trigger. I haven't shot as many deer with the 308 but it seems sufficient.

243 is a good little round . 25-06 is good too. ive seen some big killed with them . i get to where i have a problem with recoil ill use my 357mag rifle . ill just have to wait on my shot . i ever get a chance i wanna shoot a 350 legend ill never buy one because of the 30-30s i own .
