Whats causing yalls septic tank to fill up? Toilet paper disovles same as turds. If it's full of liquid it's a fill line problem. Solids can only break down so far. Eventually what is left is just taking up space in the bottom.

I thought this was the whole idea behind having a perk test. Good sized tank, proper field lines, and ground that perks like it's required to and you shouldn't have any problems for a very long time. I'm almost certain that every county in Alabama has required a perk test since about the 1980s. Bingo, a man can be separated from his money any way he chooses but I personally don’t spend it on things not required, unless we’re talking hunting of course

I met a guy recently that installs and repairs septic systems. He stays busy and told me that if a system is put in and used correctly it should never need pumping. He said bad installs keep the pumping fellas in business. BTW, I asked the same question on here since our new house is the first one that I've lived in as an adult with a septic tank. I got the same answer from several on here. Then I got several that said to go ahead and get it pumped so you'll know it won't be a problem soon. I built my house in 1990. I put in the largest septic system available at the time. Two kids, wife and me. It has never missed a beat and I wont do anything until it needs it. My septic man was my wife cousin and he is the best in the business!
I can't stand a thief.

Just because the system doesn’t back up and someone doesn’t pump for 20 years doesn’t mean that the system is functioning optimally. Same said for those that have a problem in 4 or 5 because the problem could be field lines issues or tank undersized or a plethora or other issues that can be temporarily “solved” by emptying and reseeding.

In 1997 when I built house had a perc test . That will tell you how much field lines to have . Think I got 1000 tank an 300ft of field lines . Just last year had pump tank . It was backing up in house . An I live in a poor drainage soil . When I built house had have approved perc test just to get tank installed . Certified installer a someone came an inspected it . Every 25 plus years for me . Not wasting money on it till it full. Cost $300 to pump it . If I ever build another house everything but commode water going down hill instead in tank .

You should never have to pump a septic tank. We never flush toilet paper and haven’t had a problem in 20 years we been here. Well what do you do with the paper? Toilet paper is nothing but problems for a septic system. We throw the $hit paper in Wal Mart plastic bags. Tie them up and dispose of it in the garbage when you’re done. It really ain’t a big deal and it will save your septic system from a lot of problems. Dang hippies....might as well just schitt in the bag. I'll have mine pumped once a quarter before I do that

My house was built in 79. Field lines were replaced with chambers about 15 years ago. Only time we had any problem. Cant complain but i will not pump it just for the heck of it. Also only toilet water is going in the tank.
Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one with deep ruts, hills and mud.It may be bumpy but WHAT A RIDE!

Don't have a choice here living next to the lake. We are required to have it pumped every 3 years. God Bless, David B.
