I've got some land in Cullman County that's a work in progress. The property consist 50% thinned pines and 50% hardwood bottoms. Most of the property is sloping to steep. Got several openings that were log landings that I'm trying to convert to greenfields with limited success. The pines were thinned a couple of years ago and are starting to grow up in poor vegetation and saplings. Would like to improve the deer habitiat and groceries so the property could sustain the wildlife and I can reduce the supplemental feeding.

Was thinking about a controlled burn or spraying to improve the pines. Due my age, I don't have time for a wasted year. If I can afford it, I may get a consultant to assess the property or may just get someone to burn or spray.

No idea what any of this cost so I may have to leave it as is. Any advice or service provider recommendations would be appreciated.

Not sure how big your place is but I’d hire a guy w dozer and make a few big food plots assuming it’s over 60 acres. The bigger the better. Fix roads at same time. I had dozer work done on 2 spots this summer. 2300. Fixed some roads, made some 150 yard lanes on my best plot, made a new 2 acre one, etc. Every place/situation is different. Good luck
