Sunday afternoon, I decided it was too windy and cold to hunt. So about 5:15 that evening, I was watching some football when my Moultrie Mobile sent me a video. This nice 9-point walked right in front of my stand, stopped, posed for the camera, and kept walking. I was sick. I immediately texted my boss and took Monday off. I went Monday and Sat for what seemed forever. Saw nothing. So Tuesday, I decided to leave work early and try to hunt in front of this big rain-producing front. Nothing went right. I had to first, clean out a beaver trap that had an otter in it. It had been caught I guess during the deep freeze. He was ripe. The only thing I can think of now, is I smell like rotting fish. I dispose of the otter and then go and change clothes. I get to my stand and climb about 20'. I then realized I left my pack on the ground. So I had to climb back down and then back up again. So now I can only think about how much I stink. lol, Luckily I played the wind to my favor. I get settled in the tree at about 2:30ish. At about 4:45 or so, I hear a long, tending grunt. About 2-3 seconds long. I stand up and get ready, but nothing. I sit back down and wait. At 5 or so, I catch some movement coming down an old road to the power line I am hunting. Just a doe. She comes on out into the power line. She isn't feeding or running, but she is moving at a faster than a walking pace. About 30 seconds later, I see movement again on the old road. I look through my scope and it's that same big 9 I had on camera Sunday. I made a good shot...about 30 yards or so and he dropped in his tracks.
