Just public reprimand. Wasn't exactly a shove but the refs should have had better control of that game.

Shoved/pushed a Missouri player during last nights game. Ref was standing right there, Oates should have went for his player instead. Player was just running his mouth and he comes off the sideline and pushes him away. I believe SEC has already sent down a reprimand. Will this lead to a suspension or fine? A simple push. Mizzu was acting like a bunch of thugs until Bama seperated late in the game.

Refs do their job and it doesn’t happen. The Mizzou player walked into the middle of an Alabama huddle of players is my understanding but the reprimand is appropriate.

He shouldn’t put his hands on the Missouri player no doubt. But he damn sure got his team’s attention in doing so. Kids love it when coach has your back. Time will tell how hard they will play for him as the season progresses.

It was more like smack talking near the Bama bench and then a timeout. was called the mizzou player was in the "wrong place and wrong time" Oats shouldnt have done it, but not a big deal. Oats is just lucky that todays world is all about jawing. Mizzou players back in the Norm Stewart era woild have probably beat his butt for that shove. Seriously, they played with a hell of a chip on their shoulder. I figure Oats gets a pass on this which is fine. Better than playing a murderer all year.

I guess if he would have turned around and "boxed him out" of the Alabama bench that would have been better.
I honestly don't know what folks expect. It's one thing to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. It's another thing to behave in a way that makes matters worse after that. You think any coach is gonna let an opposing player get chippy like that in their own bench?

The "wrong place wrong time" comment was me being a smartass. That is what Oats said in response to having Miller connected to a murder. Even Saban called him out on that one.

I still think it would have been funny if he would have boxed him out back over to the Mizzou bench...can't get mad at a basketball coach using basketball moves!!

Referees don't get paid enough to do what they do. SEC refs make $1500-2000/game. I’d say that’s pretty damn good.

The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

A coach should never put his hands on another teams player except maybe in attempt to separate players engaged in an all out fight...........but anyone calling that a "push" or a "shove" just has an agenda

I hope the Mizzou player is able to fully recover both physically and mentally from this horrific event. Wonder what the charges will be for Oates? Aggravated assault or attempted manslaughter?
