Have i read before that when temps get super cold its best to turn an electric heat pump to emergency heat setting?
The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

Yes you should use emergency heat instead of regular heat

I didn't touch mine last year when it didn't get over 15 for 4-5 days . I reckon it did just fine.

Just had my strip circuit board replaced under warranty on a brand new unit. I asked the guy a bunch of questions about how the EM strips work. Basically I’m leaving it on regular heat and letting the unit handle it from there. It’s going to kick in when it needs to and I’d rather that be 2 hours a night vs 8. Exactly

We gonna have another 300 dollar power bill. Is what it is. ^^^^^^ That's what I was thinking too. Man I love my new gas pack furnace installed last month.

I have my fan running all night circulating my gas space heaters heat. It’s what I’ve done for the last 4 years. I figure I’m hearing under the house too helping with pipes. It’s showing 77 in here now!

Heat pump won't keep up in extreme cold. If you bump the thermostat more than up 3 degrees or more the heat strips should kick on automatically.
Character is not developed in moments of temptation and trial. That is when it is intended to be used.

Nobody’s house ever blew up from a high power bill. With the quality of work today, I don’t want gas at my neighbors house and that’s just over 1 mile away Ok, good for you.

I did 2- dual zone mini splits in our new shop house. They have done better than any HVAC system in a home I've lived in. Very Impressed as they do not seem to be working hard. Mini Splits and inverter Systems, in general, are great. Mini-Splits don’t even utilize electric heaters and the inverters systems we install are so efficient in cold weather that they rarely have to utilize auxiliary heaters, if ever.

Problem is, the house was bought with an existing heat pump. Not sure gas is even available, but even so…getting a gas pack installed would take some time. I was asking for use with whats already there.
The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

I'm running emergency heat. House is toasty. $560 utility does sting
