With deer season about over and hog hunting about to start, I’m looking for a new strategy for where I hunt in the TNF. I usually stalk hunt and have had pretty good luck doing so but, walking several miles come summer just doesn’t appeal to me. I’m looking to put my newly acquired tree saddle to good use but in all of my walking I’ve yet to come across a wallow, plenty of rooting and an occasional rub but no wallow. Has anyone taken something like a sponge or rag and soaked it in some type of attractant(I know there are a lot of home recipes for bait involving corn and kool aid) and used it since baiting is not allowed on public land?

Wallows are not very productive to hunt over anyway in my opinion. They don’t use them consistently. Your best bet is finding the food source they are using and hunt it but a tip that probably isn’t legal but will definitely draw them in off the smell. Get an old or cheap blender. Put a few handfuls of corn in blend till it’s powder. You can also add a little rice brand if you want to add a different smell as well. Take the small batch of powder in close to where you think they are bedding and spread it up on trees and everything else that the wind will carry the scent into the thicket. Again it’s probably not legal but it works on private land.

I’ve had no luck over wallows either I wonder if that scent blender thing that they advertise on social media would work.
