I still remember what that sob did. I drive by that demolished house where it happened. I remember driving by there and seeing the blood soaked mattress

Good luck finding an anesthesiologist to do this. That would be a violation of their Hippocratic Oath and they would have their license revoked by the AMA. "Physician, do know harm" is the key phrase here.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

They knew as soon as they saw inside the house he (her husband Charles) was involved. The inside of the house was painted red with her blood. But when the deputies pulled up, he met them outside with no blood on his clothes. Instead of asking them to hurry or having evidence he had tried to stop the bleeding, he just kept telling them “I swear boys, I didn’t touch a thing”. Charles got off easy a week later when he shot himself with the one pistol his sons couldn’t find.

Seriously I’ve never understood why they haven’t done this for years. If an anesthesiologist can put a person close enough to death that they can take a heart out of the chest and work on it, then one should be able to do it for the death penalty. Just don’t put the heart back in. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Because prison is money racket.

They can make money on death row for 20yrs. They don't make dollar if they kill him within days.

Him and another guy were hired by a preacher to kill the Preacher's wife. Him and this other dude broke in the house and stabbed and beat that poor old lady to death. I really don't care if the State uses Nitrogen Hypoxia or beats him to death with a wet sandy rope........ as long as the trash gets taken out.

why are all of these cruel/unusual punishment people ignoring the fact that the guy apparently requested this method?

The bastard chose it because it's experimental and controversial and his lawyer thought SCOTUS would stop it before it ever happened. It was a gamble.

The preacher met them in the cafeteria of a local hospital (ECM) and drew the house plan on a napkin. He forwarded them the money to buy a gun. They used the money to buy pot instead. They went to her back door and told her he had given them permission to turkey hunt. They went in the woods behind the house, smoked their dope, and went back to the house. They went in without knocking. She was sitting on the couch. One sat by her while the other started going through things in the kitchen. Then they just started stabbing her. She bled out, though the investigators said evidence was she put up a helluva fight.

The preacher was in his office at the church building and didn't want to be the one to find her. He started calling folks, telling them she wasn't answering the phone and asking them to go check on her. He couldn't get anyone to go. That is when he went to the house, "found" her and called the county.

The preacher got off easy. My aunt taught Smith in elementary school (Brandon in Florence). He was always in, or causing trouble, growing up. Time for him to pay the price for his wrong-doings.

I drove by Fountain Prison and the turn to go back to Holman a while ago. The law enforcement presence is ENORMOUS. Haven't seen it like this since John Louis Evans was executed back in the 80's. Tons of press onsite, as well.

A quality rope can be used many times and if bought in bulk you can always have another one ready to go in case the first one breaks. With that the state saves the tax payers big money. There's no special chemicals or controlled substances involved so no permits to file and correct if I am wrong but nobody need a degree to tie a knot and pull a lever. So what if it pops a head off every once in a while, there's no degree of dead, it will just a little messy. Nothing a water hose can't handle.

Apparently that dude died a slow and painful death which lasted 22 minutes and consisted of many convulsions.
‘When they turned the nitrogen on, he began to convulse, he popped up on the gurney over and over again, he shook the whole gurney,’ he said.

It's pathetic that it takes over 30 years to put a POS like this in the ground.

This. Should have suffered like his victim did. I was a in senior in HS when this happened. I doubt he suffered as long as the article says

Haven’t there been plenty of cases of accidental death by hypoxia where the person simply lost consciousness and slipped off into eternity?

When I first heard of this I thought the guy just broke in and beat her to death, but he was hired by her husband a "debt riddled preacher" to kill her for the insurance money. He killed himself before he could be captured and stand trial. The other guy involved in the murder for hire was executed in 2010.

What a tangled web we weave...

4 people's lives have been ended violently, because one dude couldn't manage his money and decided to take drastic measures.
