Me and some buddies are headed to camp on Sunday in Dallas county and are hunting through Wednesday. The forecast on Tuesday is saying the high/low is 32/14 for Tuesday. In my past experience in hunting this type of cold weather it always seems like they kind of shut down for a bit when you’d think it would be the opposite so they don’t freeze to death. Every year we go up same time and on our place if we’ve got cold weather it’s awesome, bucks chasing all over the place. What is everyone’s experience with hunting weather this cold . Also wind looks good and partly cloudy to sunny the entire time after Monday .

I’ll bite, when it gets unseasonably cold look for mid morning and afternoon movement. My experience is that they shut down as well. Most folks will probably disagree.

My experience when hunting really cold weather has been the same. Just when we get some good cold weather and I think the deer will really be moving it seems to shut them down all together.

This is my experience as well. Not saying you won’t see some movement early but anytime it dips below freezing I don’t get in a hurry to get to the stand. Usually see best movement from 9AM on. Those south facing hill sides and cutovers that get hit with sunlight as the frost burns off are good spots to key in on. Best deer movement I saw all season was at 10:45 on a day where the frost didn’t burn off until 10 on my property.

I agree with more movement later on super cold mornings but I still get out early just in case. This Saturday looks really good. I’m looking to set up downwind of thicker stuff to catch Bucks scent checking. Looking to hunt Talladega NF or Hollins where the rut should be in full swing.

If the ruts on and the bucks are chasing all bets are off, be in The woods as much as possible.

Did you worry about the weather when You were chasing women??? ...... nah, Me neither, Good luck.

Cold weather and the rut is a great combo IMHO.

James Spann said today on his morning weather briefing that the coldest air of the season is going to roll into Alabama next week with lows in the teens across the state. I don’t ever remember seeing a bunch of deer when it gets that cold.

ievery time it snows, I go hunting thinking they will move. Never seen a deer with snow on the ground where I'm at in alabama. Only has snowed enough to cover ground her a couple times

The days where the temperature drops are my favorite. Like this coming up Friday but without storms

12 - dark. I killed my biggest buck on an afternoon after a single digit morning.

I’ll add - typically when it gets that cold it only does it for a day or two. Looks like a week of real cold weather. That should be great, but that first cold snap day is weird on movement for me.

+1 If it snows, it may not make the deer move but it makes them visible.
