Fished from 10:30 to 4:30 today below the Guntersville Dam. Hate fishing after a rain, but it's better than sitting at home!
Water Temp: 45.2 in Shoal Creek, 47.2 out on the river.
Water Clarity: Clear
Target: Crappie
Tackle: 1/16th Chartreuse Jig Head, Bobby Garland Baby Shad 2"
Colors: Live Minnow, Electric Chicken (Absolutely would not hit anything else)
All the crappie, keepers anyways, that I found today were hanging out on creek ledges between 15-25ft deep. The bite was very difficult to detect, even with good gear. Had a few thumps, but most were just a very subtle pressure on your line and if you didn't set the hook instantly, you didn't catch the fish. I think I've got 10 in the livewell and I must of missed another 20 or so on late hook sets.
On a side note, shoal creek was chock full of white bass, yellow bass and baby crappie. Even caught a few short sauger. The mouth of shoal creek as always, is loaded with fish and fishermen.
