Make a pad out of bagged concrete. Set the bags out and let them do their thing.

Check your zoning. I bought mine from a guy who got an ultimatum from the local gubmint. Expensive to move.

I have a good contact in North Alabama but transportation to you wouldn’t be beneficial.

Look up "the container guy tv" on youtube. He has lots of ideas and offers products for the containers.

Its genetic. Even in hunter gatherer nomadic societies where the entire community moves on a daily basis the men are always complaining about having to lug their women's sh1t around. In the Netsilik Eskimo, they have a special sled called "The womens sled" which is just for hauling women's crap and it is the heaviest sled in the group. Nobody in the group can remember what all the stuff is for or even the last time any of it was used for anything. Sometimes a man gets caught removing stuff from the heavy sled and making it disappear, and as punishement he is required to go find random useless crap to put on the sled.

I called Jack, per Squadron 77's request. You go to the yard and there is no one there. You look around and find what you want. The containers with a price tag are the one's for sale. I saw decent 20'ers for around $2300. I decided on a 40' for $3600. Another 1K = more space for sure. The 40' containers looked the best also. Like maybe one or two trip containers. The 20' containers were a lot more beat up. One had a ripped roof that was repaired and it was $2100. There was a lot of difference in the 40' vs the 20'ers in appearance. I then called Jack back and sent him a pic of the one I wanted and talked with him. He will work up the final price with tax/moving cost. i figure about $4200 in all (moving it to me around $250). I still have to lay down gravel/6x6 corner supports. Also the vapor barrier. You do not have to support the middle of the container as it has a steel beam down both sides that supports the container. I'll have to add power from my barn and a top vent. Probably cool seal the roof while I'm up there. Thank for all the replies/suggestions, they really got me started on the way to this.

Old tractor trailers, dead U-Haul truck, shipping container, or schoolbus…dry storage.
Vent, ac, or heat as much or less as your needs require.

Please keep us informed on final costs. I’m in south Shelby and plan to get at least one for a shed or we might go all in and build a container house. But it’s going to take a bunch of thinking to get that deep.

We've got a 20' that the previous homeowner installed and put a tin roof and lean-to on it, so it doesn't look like a shipping container sitting in the yard. It looks more like a small shop/shed.

experience is a freakin' awesome teacher....

I saved this pic from ALDeer a couple years ago. I don’t remember which member it was that built it but in my eyes it’s about perfect. One day I’ll be building something very similar.

I’ve used them a lot and never noticed one sweating. Don’t think it would be an issue unless air conditioning was involved. I’d put it on gravel to keep critters from getting under it. I would also get one with a door on each end.
