Does anyone know where I can rent/borrow a 16-18 ft step ladder or two around BHM or Tuscaloosa area? We are trying to finish an equipment shed and need some tall ladders to connect the trusses at the roof ridge and then to put the sheet metal on. A scissor lift will not work due to the contour of the ground and an all terrain lift basket is too big to fit between the trusses. We are using a jib pole on the FEL of my tractor to lift the trusses, but we can't use the extension ladders to work up there with nothing to lean them against. I checked Sunbelt Rentals, but their website said that the ladders were unavailable. It will be touch and go over the next couple of weeks due to the forecasted wind.

Thanks,
Jeremy

16-18 foot A frame step ladder. The roof ridge is about 19-20 feet.

I have a Little Giant type. Not sure how high it goes in step configuration. But the extension configuration goes to 22 or 24.

My son's is slightly smaller and goes to 18' I think. They are both at my house right now.

You're welcome to borrow it as long as it's back before Monday. Text me and I'll let you know where it is and how to grab it. I live in Hoover.

I'm leaving for NC with the family tomorrow morning and won't need it until Monday morning. I won't be checking PM's or ALDEER much, so my cell is a must.

CT,
I might have to check into that if the ladders don't pan out.

FFP,
I greatly appreciate the offer. I think those are going to max out around 12 - 13 feet in step ladder form. Hope y'all have a safe trip.

I hope United Rentals might have one. I will contact them tomorrow.

Jeremy

I may not understand the exact situation, but could you lay out a horizontal temporary beam across top of the wall, secure it, then put your extension ladder up being braced on that beam? Just strap it and secure the foot of the ladder and you might be able work at the ridgr.

Just thinking outside the box...may not work in your situation.

Calera would be the closest/easiest.

The beam would have to be over 30 feet long to reach across both headers. Thanks for the suggestion.
