I lost a trophy buck a few weeks ago. It got dark and we lost the blood trail. Hard rain came in and we were done. I have read mixed reviews about lights that really project blood at night. Anyone have any experience or recommendations for one that you have used? Do they really work?

Don’t have personal experience but I’ve heard they’re not really a game changer…

Years ago, there used to be something that you'd spray mist out in front of you on the trail, that would make the blood glow neon blue in a light. I never tried it but had some buddies tell me that it worked as advertised. Dont have a clue if it is still available or even made anymore.

I remember a guy that swore by using peroxide in a spray bottle when he lost a trail .. I never used it and agree with Calvin .. a good light and moving slow ...

And yes on the older Coleman laterns. Light wise, nothing I've found makes blood standout or "glow" better than they do. I think it is something about the color or light frequency, but those old colemans are way better than a flashlight or new style headlight in my opinion and for my eyes.

Not sure a light will do much good after washed away by the rain. But a good tracking dog could help in that situation.
I have seen someone run one of these flashlights and it made the blood stand out. I have ordered one to play around with...

A friend of mine is color blind. He says that’s why he uses a magnum. If that doesn’t leave a good trail then he calls in someone who can see.
