They damn sure aren't spending to much on an adequate cashier staffing.

They almost always look like they've been ransacked.

That's my theory, at least

Probably guilty of over building stores. They are everywhere and that much growth seems not well planned.

Their business model should have been to focus mostly on rural/outlying areas. Not much of a point of putting one up a block away from a Walmart. As much as I hate Walmart, I hate DG even worse. In a rural area where the next closest grocery store or walmart is 30-45 minutes away, they're a license to print money.

The big drop(20%) was June 1, another 10% end of August. Cut their outlook

Actually, their business model IS to put their stores between residential areas and the nearest Walmarks.

DG will be fine, and right now its probably a good buy for holding long. The big problem they are having is not caving to the woke Wall Street mob. DG won't put stores in California or in other places that are not business friendly. As a result the Blackrock crowd is punishing them by forcing their stock price down. DG has emphatically stated that it would take three stores in California to make what one store does in Alabama because of California's taxes and regulations. If they put stores in those places, they lose money, if they don't then the blackrock's force their stock price down. Also, they don't put up with the woke product crap. Have you ever seen the DG pride month display? There aint one.

One exception: the DG in Silas on 84 just west of 17. The gals in that place run a tight ship. One of the cleanest, most organized stores of any kind that I've been in post-Covid.

Heck, last time I was in there they even had someone's new set of BFG AT/KOs stacked up waiting on pick-up.

I have some DG, right now it's the turd in my punch bowl. I'm thinking bout buying Pfizer . It has 25 of the top 35 drugs on the market and is working on over 100 more , pays a great dividend . Lota the big player talking heads say it's a strong buy. It won't stay down long. DG is already coming back.

I have DG and it went way down in August I think.. went down to $103 and I should have bought more. It's now at $135. Overall its a loss for me now but long-term I feel its good. I like the business model overall. Not planning to sell. The reason I bought it was because dollar stores usually do really well in a recession, but the recession has never hit. Either way I am keeping it.

My biggest loss has been Paypal, just bought it way too high and then it went down down down and I rode it all the way. But win some lose some so it don't bother me.

I bought after the initial dip this year. Can’t remember exactly when, then it took a 25%ish additional nose dive about a week after I bought in. It’s back to roughly what I paid now.

Pfizer is at the same price it was in 1998. You would think a drug company would have done better than that but it hasn't.

They aint talking about it in the news for obvious reasons, but Pfizer is being sued under the table in several foreign countries for their lies and murders. It would not surprise me a bit if they don't file for bankruptcy. Over here they will just get reduced down to a holding company to settle the money. The labs and research will be sold to the highest bidder and the process will continue.
