Knew it was coming... NR tags for Spring 2024 will be through a lottery system, no more over the counter. The lottery sign up starts January 9th for a month, $10 application fee. Still only one NR tag and you can only apply for one Area. I'm hoping they have plenty of tags but we'll see. They cancelled the Fall season in hopes of boosting the numbers, I know the area I hunt has been way down the last few years.

I knew it was going to a draw for out of state hunters. I just found out it starts on January 9th last week. Our bunch is hunting private land just north of coffeeville. It's not pure Rios, but it's turkeys. We don't care. Only hope we all get drawn. We like hunting that place cause it's flat land.

If it's like other draws I've been a part of over the years, you tell them how many in are your party up to a certain limit and if any one in the group gets drawn, you're good. I assume that's all covered in the application.

Guess we won't be going back to Kansas.
I don't understand how a state can allow you to kill hens and still act like they are concerned about turkey numbers (goes for OK & TN too ... and probably a bunch more states).

I was hoping they would follow what Nebraska has done. Nebraska reduced the number of NR tags from 18,000 to 10,000 but still made them available for purchase with no lottery. There were NR tags still available right up to opening day last year.
