For me the gatherings of friends and family and the enjoyment of just being together. Realizing those that are gone and what it really means. The gifts were just incidentals and food related seasonings and hot sauces.

What’s that roasted aluminum taste like? How long you need to cook it and is it low and slow or turbo style cooking. laugh

No taste. Just street cred when cajun cooking

I got some nice, and functional, camp cooking towels and implements. The GF got me a new beach/pier cart and I think she’s as excited to put it into use as I am. I got her a new modern safety harness to go with her climber and some much more effective under layers for cold hunting days. Stuffed her stocking with jerky, pork rinds and one of her favorite (splurge level) bottles of vino.

I know this feeling all too well. Parents aren’t with me anymore and I miss all the great times we had at Christmas. Both of my parents loved Christmas because as kids they were so poor they never had a good Christmas. We simply place too much emphasis on the things we get, not the love we have for all those that are gone. I would give everything I own to have one more Christmas morning with my mother and dadd. God knows I miss them so much this time of year.

Incredible for what we’ve heard. Friends have been there for several events.

Quick trip in February. Looking forward to it, for sure. Should be great.

Also going to Lotus of Siam for lunch, one of my favorite restaurants. Not sure yet about breakfast but considering Cafe Lux and a couple of other spots.

Covid. I got the China Flu for Christmas. The whole household and my daughter's household next door has got it too. Most of us have been laid up all weekend with it but we are starting to get over it now it seems. Without a few trials along the way, I doubt we would appreciate it when things are going great. We may be sick here, but we are above ground and very thankful for what our Savior has done for us.

Time with family and friends, lots of windshield and airport/airplane time, about a tenth of the cash that I spent on others, and the look of delight on my niece-in-law's face when she received her very first deer rifle that we bought for her.

Ruger American compact in 7mm-08 with a Meopta scope.

First time holding my great-niece. Her mom was my buddy for years, and now I get to spoil a new generation and introduce her to the great outdoors.

Got a nice Sig Sauer Red Dot scope for my Turkey shotgun plus a mount. Enjoyed giving gifts to my four teenage grandkids. When in doubt I put cash in their Venmo accounts.

Well...

Irish Jr. realized that the Polk Audio speakers he bought is were not self powered, so he took us to Best Buy in Chattanooga and added a Sony 100 watt stereo receiver to our Christmas gifts. We got the speakers and receiver hooked up and set-up in the cabin yesterday and got the whole set-up hooked up to the TV audio and via Bluetooth, and let's just say that the cabin is like a studio now. The sound is amazing here.

Not only that, but he's been able to stay 2 whole weeks with us this year, plus we got to go see his sister that seems to be doing well despite her years of drug and alcohol problems. She has a good job, a nice little apartment that she furnished and decorated herself by going to yard sales, thrift stores and Facebook market place and the refinishing the furniture as needed. Most importantly she is self-sufficient, which at one point was more than I ever thought we could ask for.

Pics from her place on our Christmas day visit. It ain't much to look at, but if you knew of her struggles with drugs, alcohol and eating disorders, it's a sure enough Christmas Miracle. She's been working full time in a Chevrolet dealership for a year, and wants to go to tech school to become a GM Certified mechanic. She's no tomboy, but she is very detail oriented and a very strong determined young woman. So I can see her doing it.

The pleasure of giving gifts. 😂

Oh yeah... It certainly was a blessing. We all almost cried. Everyone in the family has been pulling for her to dig herself out of the hole that she had created.
