Christmas when I was 16, dad gave me a 20ga side by side shotgun. Killed my first deer and first turkey with that gun. Need to get it out and do it again.

I was 10 years old in 1974, and Dad bought me a Remington 1100 for Christmas. I've killed every critter with it, and still have it today.
Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.
My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

I’ve had several. My Marlin .22 that was given to me as a kid. My uncle gave me his 12 gauge pump when I was about 25 that he had let me borrow as an 11 year old kid to kill my first deer. My dad gave me his Rolex watch, his prized possession a Christmas or two before he died.

My Dad's Grandfather had a pocketwatch that he carried. He gave it to my Grandfather and he gave it to my Dad. Christmas of 2021 my Dad wrapped it up and gave it to me.
The other thing was not a Christmas present but it was a special gift. My Dad had a Browning auto 5 that I loved my entore life. One year he and my mom were going on vacation and he laid it in the attic. When he got home it was covered in surface rust. He was really sick about it. So I worked with my mom and sent it to Art's in Missouri and had it completely restored. I gave it back to my Dad on Fathers day. I thought that he was going to cry (and I have never seen him cry). He looked it over and thanked me profusely. THat after noon when I started to leave he stopped me and told me he had something to give me. He handed me that auto 5 and told me that he wanted me to have it and that it was mine. I cherish it to this day.

I always think about my dad a lot this time of year. I've never known a more selfless man. Very thankful for a god fearing father. My favorite Christmas gift was a Winchester 30-30. Id give a pretty penny if I could get that rifle back. I made some pretty stupid decisions in my late teen years...

This wasn't Christmas. It was my first birthday gift from a father that was completely absent. But it was by far my favorite toy as a child. Bad Arse Toy

I may have told this story before, but when I was young we didn’t have much. My Dad jokes that we were so poor that we were po, we couldn’t afford the “o r” to make us poor. My Mom bought me a bike at an auction for $10 back around 71-72 (she asked the guy who had outbid her, if she could buy the bike for what he had bid on it). It was mostly a pile of junk - but, it was my pride and joy. It was the 1st bike I ever owned that you could adjust the handlebars.
One day - the bike turned up missing and my parents told me it had been stolen (I was heartbroken). On Christmas morning sitting next to the tree was a bike with a sissy bar, a new seat, fresh paint, and brakes that worked. For all I knew it was a new bike - my Dad told me that he and my Grandpa had fixed up my old bike. I hope that I NEVER forget that moment - it IS by far the BEST Christmas gift I have ever received. To this day - I think of the time and sacrifice that my Dad and Grandpa made to make a young boy’s day.

1978 I was 12. Got my 1st gun. 20ga Winchester 1400 MK II. I killed a pile of squirrels with it. According to the interweb, it was a POS but it went bang every time I pulled the trigger and never gave me any issues. I still have it and will never part with it. My favorite Christmas present as a kid.

I received a Browning Light, A5 20 gauge when I turned 10. This was 55 years ago. I got it before Christmas and I carried that gun everywhere I went for years as a boy growing up. I killed my first deer with it at Wendells Lodge in Aliceville during Christmas week in 1975. It shows many scars from the many miles me and that gun logged together. I killed everything with it except a wild turkey, but killed at least 100 tame turkeys with it when we raised turkeys growing up. It is in the very back of the safe and will be passed down the line of progression one day.
Thanks for bringing back the memories of that day!
