Notice the drop in gas prices? American crude oil producers are going to set a record this year for the most barrels of oil produced in a given year. My dad worked in the oil field as a "lead tong" back in the 80s. Working on a drilling rig is hard dangerous work, 7 days a week. Happy to see the American oil economy is strong.

Yea crude oil prices are up 5% this week so that's the just in price. If it stays below $80, we should see stable prices for a while. But it only takes one global event for prices to shoot up. I don't invest in crude oil prices like buying futures, none of that. I just keep up with it because my father used to take me on the rigs during the summer when I was out for summer break. Just really glad to hear those rigs are going full blast and oil is pumping at record levels.

Average gas price today in Alabama is $2.79. On 6/22/22 it was $4.63. According to AAA. This is for regular unleaded.

We have war in the middle east and ukraine. In past decades the price of oil would be soaring but somehow prices are being kept down in an election year... If the next election is effectively stolen, crude oil will skyrocket. Climate change, ya know.

The US doesn't need oil from anyone to be self-sufficient. This is why we are pulling out of Bretton Woods agreement and are going to quit being the policemen of the world and protecting the freedom of the open seas.

The Strategic Petroleum Reserve is at the lowest level since it was created. All of that oil has been burned up in just 18 months.
Wonder how that happened?

This is not political, just stating the facts. If you sat on the front porch with your baseball glove and waited for your dad to get home from a long day in the oil field you would care about oil prices. If your dad missed all your school activities because he was trying to make a living for his family working 7 days a week, 364 days a year, you would be proud to know that oil is gushing.

If your dad lost his job in the late 80s when prices bottomed, you would be proud to hear about these record levels. Just because it does not support your political agenda does not mean that those of us who grew up in the Permian Basin can not be proud today.

You are correct, looks like it's the lowest since 1983 but has come back up in recent months. Biden can't play that hand again, in my opinion. If those reserves were not in the market I wonder what the price would be today.

One thing I need to look up is what percentage of barrels did Biden release, compared to the overall market. I really don't know.

Oil is market driven, similar to timber. Land owners will sit on timber if the prices are too low. I feel energy companies do the same.

The strategic reserves are around 756 million barrels. We use 20 million barrels a day. So those reserves would only last 36 days. It's really not that much oil.

We sell 18% of our reserves. Is 18% "not much". Biden sold 50% when he steeped in. This was not a one time sale, it is recurring.

"The United States has proven reserves equivalent to 4.9 times its annual consumption. This means that, without imports, there would be about 5 years of oil left (at current consumption levels and excluding unproven reserves)."

No matter how hard you try you aren't going to sway anyone to the democrat side. You can deny it all you like but what you are and what you're doing is obvious.

No matter how you spin it things are never as good under democrat rule as it is under Republicans. I'm no fan of Republicans but I'm not blind to how evil, crooked and stupid democrats are and you won't change my mind no matter how long your soft propaganda campaign goes on.
