I bought a 350 legend barrel for my encore from MGM. Shot a nice 9 pt in Illinois, but it wasn’t a far shot. Hit it where you should and it ran 30 yards and fell over. Shooting the 150 grain Winchester deer season loads and it had a nice hole on both sides of the chest. I would take that caliber over a slug gun all day every day. Very little recoil (30-30/.243) and would be perfect for smaller/younger shooter.

I've killed one with my AR last year. I hit high and got spine it anchored him for a finishing shot. Only one example but I was impressed enough with bullet performance (big fat bullet relatively speaking) that I finally got around to ordering a cheap 18" axis II in 350 just earlier this week to play around with. Think I am just going to steal a scope of another rifle to put on it. I'll likely upgrade the combo if the caliber proves itself out.

If you’re not hunting in a straight wall cartridge state…I don’t see the attraction. I’m not big on new cartridges and feel the same. Besides doing well suppressed. I don’t know what a 300 BO can do that a 30/30 can’t.

Get him a Ruger American Ranch and some 180 Grain soft points. That combo is a stone cold killer with very little recoil.

I have one y’all can borrow if you need it quick. I appreciate it. We won’t need it till next season. He shoots a youth .243 in AL. But that .50 cal muzzleloader was a little more thump than he wanted in Illinois this year. Lol

I love the 350 legend. I killed 4 of the 6 animals I killed in Texas with it. The big axis doe went the farthest and that was only about 60yds. I shoot the Winchester 180gr soft points. I highly recommend it for a short range weapon.

If you’re not hunting in a straight wall cartridge state…I don’t see the attraction. Me either. Can't really see what it does for an Alabama hunter that a 30-30 or 35 rem doesn't.
