Ya'll can throw rotten veggies if you don't like the idea. But it's something I started with our foster and would be a really good gift to those you truly care about.
During the rough days when we had to send our girl back to her sperm and egg donors, my wife and I were really struggling. I started an email with her first name and our last name. I send her emails periodically to highlight her childhood and our feeling towards her. I started out sending one nearly every day, but over time it's down to every week or so. I send her photos, comments, talk about rewards and punishments and always always always express our love and support for her. I've continued this since we've adopted too.
Some day I know she's going to be a confused teen and there will be a day I'll give her the login and password. She'll have a lot of reading to do, she's got a couple hundred unopened right now.
So if you have a loved one, that might be something to do. Especially if they are younger. You can always drop the login/password in your will. And they will have something priceless and it doesn't cost you a dime.
Character is not developed in moments of temptation and trial. That is when it is intended to be used.
