I got selected for this hunt later this month. Are dogs provided for the hunt? Will other hunters be okay being a stander for their dogs? What exactly is the deal with this hunt? There hasn’t been a whole lot clarity on exactly how it’s run.

The typical dog drive: Standers are put out on one road, dog owners and dogs go down an adjacent road. They turn out.....walk with the Dogs towards standers until they jump....then most Dog Men...."Drivers" will select a spot in the block of land being hunted until the hunt is over....usually about 2 to 3 hours. Some Drivers will walk all the way through to the standers while whooping and hollering in an attempt to jump Deer. I started Deer hunting like this 56 years ago. Right. But what I’m asking is there some type of organization to this or is there just gonna be different groups of hunters with there own dogs running all over the place and us hunters without dogs just left out and hoping one runs by without knowing which direction the drive is taking place? Sounds like it could get unsafe if there is no structure.

No. Just go climb a tree with a shotgun and sit. You do not have to meet up with the dog guys. Used to hunt this back in the day. Unless something has changed.
Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.
My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

If you’re on Facebook, there was a lot of discussion about this hunt on the Alabama SOA group. For the youth SOA hunt, the Alabama Dog Hunters Association brought out ~100 dogs. Very well organized. For the Blue Springs hunt, that group is not running it. Some folks that got selected will have dogs, others will not. I need to call tomorrow to cancel my spot. I got drawn for this one as well and at first was excited about it but ended up declining.

It’s not an organized hunt like Geneva. It went to a draw simply to keep hunter numbers down as it was reaching close to 500. If you don’t know someone with dogs or catch on with a group at check station. Best bet is find you a good spot along a branch and hope a legal buck runs with 50/60 yards of you. Each hunting party with have their own radio channels and gps collars so it will be hard to keep up unless you own some yourself.
take your kids hunting and you won't be hunting your kids
