RIP Lil Big Sarge
We got thrown in the same unit way back in Desert Storm. He was younger than me and I had to teach him how to balance a check book and appreciate the lyrical genius of George Strait. He was out of the Bayous of Louisiana and we were thick as thieves. We kicked around Europe as young NCO's and eventually back to the Middle East.
He stood about 5'7 maybe but damn he was a good Soldier, NCO and friend. I gave him the nickname "Lil Big Sarge" after the movie "Lil Big Man". Shared a lot of good times over the years.
Best Man at my wedding.
Unfortunately he fought demons I couldn't see. He tried to drown them but today they finally pulled him under.
I hope you finally have peace brother. Man, I'm sorry. My brother is fighting those same demons and I've come to realize they will eventually get him.
Character is not developed in moments of temptation and trial. That is when it is intended to be used.
