I have a 1 year old teckel out of Vom Mountain Creek kennel that I'm training as a tracking dog. Hoping to get him on a few practice tracks (i.e., deer successfully recovered) this season and then start him on "real" track jobs later this year. If anyone puts one on the ground and is willing to let us come follow your track, we'd really appreciate the help getting him trained up. Once I feel confident in his abilities, I'll add our contact info to the tracking dog list here.

I'm located in Hoover, and I am willing to travel within a couple hours of the Birmingham area. Send me a private message if you're willing to help Hawken and me out with this. I'll check the forums at least a couple times a day. Thanks in advance!

Dsayer Mike has great dogs. With those little hairy weiners you'll be fine. Go ahead and start going to your processor and asking everytime a deer comes in how far did it run? When they say hundred or so yards or more get the guy to save the legs and freeze them. That way you can use the interdigital gland for training. Of course the best training is real world scenario like you're wanting. Good luck and if you're every in west alabama hit me up I'll be glad to help ya.

It isn't necessary to see a good tackle...you can hear it.

Thanks Dano! I'll run by my processor and do that. I did save the legs off my deer from last season as well as the liver and several vials of blood. We've been using those and a kit from Bass Pro (who knows how good that is) for training. He really turns on when he crosses a deer track so really excited to get him on one.

I have not scooped out any gland secretions, but I'd be curious to hear if others have.
