Went to visit my Son and Family in Camden, S.Carolina last weekend. Had to go through Atlanta. Traffic was running at about 80 MPH. TWICE..... 2 Cars Came around Me Racing at what had to be a Good 120+ MPH. Zig-Zagging between CLOSE Traffic. WTF.....Did They get that "Wanna' TRY IT" from Video Games?? Kept thinking I was gonna see a BAD Wreck soon.

Lived there 13 years ago. Same stuff was going on. I don’t miss that traffic one bit.

I was going through there one time and I looked up in my rear view to see a massive movie scene crash with fireballs and flipping vehicles about 5 or 6 cars behind me. Nobody ahead of it like me missed a beat and kept zipping along at 80mph. The news later said fatalities but not how many.

Had a motorcycle cut through the middle of cars this morning. I see him every morning acting like a fool. Just a matter of time.

Saw that 20 or so years ago in 400 headed to lake Lanier on a late Friday afternoon
What made it worse I was driving my parents to my sister’s daughters christening and mom didn’t so well with traffic.

Mom yelling at me dad yelling at her to hush and let me drive I was driving just fine.

I had many drinks that night

Friends had a get together back in the spring in Roswell and couldn’t have imagined it worse than the last time I was over that way. Man was I wrong.

Atlanta has some of the worst drivers I’ve ever seen. I’ve almost been sideswiped more there than anywhere else mainly because they weren’t paying attention and fooling with their phones. Demographics is a big factor, as well.

That place scares the hell out of me every time I go. It's more like 85 mph just to keep out of the way of the real speeders. I have a son that lives in the Atlanta metro and I do not like to go. I have sisters in Jonesboro and getting there is not quite as as fast as Atlanta.

I used to do some interior demolition work back in the early 90s and it was bad then. Drove 75-85 and the loop often to get where we were going. One morning our exit as closed but back then you didn’t know until it was too late. We sat there for hours as they cleared a crash with 4 fatalities from two cars racing down an exit to 75-85.

That same trip over a fellow got ran over trying to run across 75-85. He had robbed a gas station and was being chased.

I’ve got to go thru there on I-20 tomorrow to go hunting with my dad near Augusta. Every time I go to Atlanta, it reminds me why I left.

Try driving up I-5 in California. Those mfers will run you over if you’re driving 75 or less in the right lane. I bet the average speed was 90 something

When I used to run up there from Au to visit my sis, once I hit 285, it was hammer down.

One other thing I have wondered is still happening, back when I was over there often it seemed traffic sped up 10 mph if it was raining.

It’s definitely crazy there. I typically stay in the middle lanes when driving through Atlanta, but even then you have those that almost take the nose off your car swapping lanes at high speeds

Yes. Back in 97 it was in Atlanta for the SEC CG. Sunday after the game we were on 285 north and is wasn't paying attention to my speed, just going with the traffic flow. My truck suddenly shut down as I was driving and I said WTF, until I looked at the speedometer.

I was going 100 mph and the governor had kicked in.

I'm fine with driving that fast as long as everyone is going basically the same speed. I've been traveling this week in Oklahoma and Texas and the speed limits are 75-80 mph, even on 2 lane highways. I love it.

I'll take the speed over MeeMaw driving 42 mph looking at flowers and drifting into the other lane, riding with her tires on the center line, or creeping along terrified because "Erry'body is going soooooo fast!" Or a wild-eyed Karen, 20-something or BroDude on their phone or otherwise distracted.

Terrible driving always has been a thing. Cell phones have made it worse. And I honestly think the 2020 lockdowns, 'work from home' and other things of the last three years have intensified it. Teens are content getting rides and not driving. Old folks are scary as chit behind the wheel. Others are "GTF outta my way because I can do whatever I want!"

And the police, IMO, in many areas have simply given up on stopping speeders.

When I drive through ATL, I watch the rear mirror almost as much as I look through the windshield.

I had to do an internship there at the end of my college career. One of the happiest moments in my life was seeing the Atlanta skyline in my rearview mirror with all my stuff packed up in the back of the truck, leaving that city.

You can be in clarksville, TN or Leeds, AL but if somebody is driving like a complete idiot the odds are good they will have Georgia plates with Fulton, Cobb, Clayton, Gwinnett, Douglas, Paulding, Henry, or fayette county plates. If your lucky maybe Butts County.

Some drive crazy in carroll and coweta county, but far fewer than the others.
