AGFC approved a 30-day nonresident WMA permit, for all the dirty outsiders who come in to hunt their public WMAs and have to have one. https://www.agfc.com/news/new-30-da...ts-lifetime-license-for-youths-enhanced/

I don’t understand what y’all are complaining about. This actually made it cheaper to hunt there. Before, you had to buy a 5 day permit for $40. Now, if you wanna hunt all the non resident days, you can buy a 30 day permit for $200 instead of 7 $40 permits that total $280.
Or did I totally mis read the article and the posts?

They’re complaining because if you live near Arkansas, but not in it, you can only legally hunt half the season. Duck season is 60 days, not counting special teal.

I find interesting that many years ago Arkansas was rooting for the out of staters to come in droves. If they’d peel back to a 40 day season and a few less ducks a day it self regulate I bet

I’ve only hunted public there a few times so I just assumed that has always been the rule. I don’t blame them for making that rule. Those WMAs are a crap show with the amount of people there.

I'm just going by what I saw on the Ark game and fish Facebook page.

They were whoring ducks out back in the early 90s. Not as many out of staters per se around back then. We hunted public land in and around Clarendon and Brinkley hunting the Cache and White. Camped the last week upstream with 5-7 houseboats and had the time of our lives. We hung out with the locals duck hunting and running YoYos catching crappie.
Stuttgart was being promoted heavily as the duck capital of the world.
Right before that Canada geese were hunted heavily along Maryland and the eastern seaboard. An article came out in DU about carful what you wish for. Goose season had been shutdown pretty much along the eastern seaboard. The upper Midwest was goose hunting hard but switched to ducks too. Used to ignore them in their spreads. Arkie was bragging that it was and 8 million dollar a day boom. So it was promoted heavily.
OOS were loathed by locals, some boat trailers unhooked and dumped at boat ramps. Fights etc….. duck hunting became a contact sport.

https://www.kait8.com/story/1156156...ions-to-arkansas-economy/?outputType=ampDuck hunting brings in $millions to Arkansas Economy Published: Nov. 23, 2009 at 11:52 PM CST|Updated: Dec. 22, 2009 at 10:41 PM CST By Bob Snell - bio | email feedback LAWRENCE COUNTY, AR (KAIT)- Arkansas' duck season is in full swing and that translates into big bucks for the state's economy. Some estimates show the 60 day waterfowl season brings in more than $100,000,000 to Arkansas coffers. Thousands of in state and out of state hunters roll in during the season, spending their cash, hoping to cash in on the best duck hunting in the country. Jarrod Brady and his brothers run Woody's Guided Hunts outside Walnut Ridge, they're farmers by trade, but use their rice fields for hunting between harvests. Nearly all of their customers come from out of state.

I’m assuming there trying to find the price point where hunters quit buying. Simeon said the state stamp is now 50 and you don’t get an actual stamp.

When over half the non residents are wearing $2000 of Sitka. Pulling a new can am or prodigy boat behind a newer 3/4 ton diesel. The license fees aren’t even a thought. ^^^This!!!
