So what do you do if you run out of juice on the water? Get towed to the nearest wind turbine? With a normal gas machine you call or signal another boat to bring you more gas.

That goes against everything I've been told about mixing electricity and water.

I guess if it shorted out, you'd have all sorts of fish floating up around the boat.

I just dont get the cost/maintenance of electric cars, boats, planes.

LOL Something tells me you'd better hold your breath on that one if you're wanting to retire early. That range of 100NM listed above is most likely like the estimated ranges for EV trucks and cars, absolute best case, 40 mph tail wind, not pulling anything, only one person in the vehicle, perfectly flat road. For the boat, glass calm, completely unloaded, driver only, etc. Load it down with people and put it in 2-3 foot seas running into a 20 mph headwind and that 100NM probably becomes 50NM at best.

And you can paddle to shore or wade if it craps out. Battery goes bad, drop $120 bucks and you're fully powered up for another 3 yrs. I bet replacing the batteries in that boat above is probably $75-$100K. Wonder how long they will last?
