I probably knew this but it got pushed around to some far corner in my brain housing group.
Little Wendy Lou Holcombe passed away on Valentines Day 1987. She was 23. I was carrying a torch for her way back when. She'd be on the Country Boy Eddie show as my grandmother was making breakfast for us before we'd head out to the river or the woods. Around about the late 70's or so she was one hot buttered biscuit in my eyes. She was incredibly talented in playing the banjo, steel guitar, and fiddle. The pain it brought me when she'd be on that show with Jerry Clower but Georgia Championship Rasslin would be on the other station. I reckon by 1987 I was probably charming WM's at The Stumps Bar and lost track of Wendy.
Anyways, it's crossed my mind over the years what happened to her and, like I said, I probably knew but still a shame to lose one so young.
So as to not be so shallow and comment on her nice 80s looks, I have a musician friend that says the Steel Guitar is one of the hardest instruments in Country Music to master. That and the Banjo.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.
