That’s about what I paid for my Win 94 in 1971. Cut grass all summer for the money.

Mine was a single shot Stevens in 20ga. My dad took me down to the Woolco/Woolworth store and bought it. $49 if I remember correctly. That was around 1980, 81.

When the small Walmart in Fayette closed and they built a super center, they put every gun on discount. I bought 3 1100’s for 250.00 each and one 1187 for 300.00. I don’t own a single one of those guns now… stupid really.
This had to be 1996-99 or so.

I loved the TG&Y. I remember when the Fairhope one got rid of all their ammo. My dad bought boxes and boxes of ammo for 25 cents to 1 dollar a box. I still shoot some of it and that was probably 40 years ago.

A dollar in 1967 would be worth $9.22 today so that Remington 1100 that cost $110 then would cost you $1013.68 today.

I had much rather be tried by twelve than carried to my grave by six!!!!

I love old ads like that too, for sure, but there's never been a time in my lifetime when a Remington 1100 wasn't an expensive shotgun for its time and average worker wage. When I was a kid in the 1980s getting into shotguns, an 1100 was something like $395. For my parents and me, $395 on a non-essential luxury might just as well have been $10,000.

I was thrilled when my parents came up with $150 or so for a pump Mossberg.

Now... I grew up in a household where a bottle of Sun Drop might have been considered a luxury over a glass of lemonade so I get it... but Remington's have always been affordable they sold millions of them at WalMart and K-Mart.

No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.
