I actually like our Winn Dixie. The thought of it being changed to an Aldi is depressing. Paying for groceries at Aldi is like buying from the “Soup Nazi”. We don’t have a Publix near us, or I’d go there.

I hate WD....I literally drive past one to go to Publix. Publix is always cleaner and the employees more pleasant (almost Chick-fil-A pleasant). And with their BOGO's, we usually spend less there than we would at WD. If we're doing a LOT of grocery shopping, we'll go to the "Little Walmart" (Walmart Grocery), otherwise it's Publix.
Yes. When Publix moved into the Birmingham market about 25 years ago, one of their goals was to push WD out of that market. One of their reps told a friend of mine on the Helena Planning committee they were going to build a new Publix close to every WD in the area. When that store opened in Helena, the WD across the street became a ghost town and closed within a few years.

Walgreens has taken over those customers. My Wife is a pharmacist for Walgreens and she says it is a huge mess. Comes home griping everyday.

CVS and Walgreens (and a few other large pharmacy chains) employees have started an alternating walk-out. There won't be an empty pharmacy, but they're trying to bring to light how short-staffed they are, overworked and can't keep up. The push-back they're getting from corporate is that they're possibly harming their customers' health in doing this.
I despise having to deal with CVS, Walgreens, or any of the big names. Our independent, family owned pharmacy, thankfully, survived the big names coming in and buying out all of the other local pharmacies and shut them down and just came back on our coverage list. All the chain pharmacies suck. I have never been to one that didnt take 45 minutes to get something filled, even if it is at 8pm and there is nobody in line. I will only use them if my normal local store is closed. I use Tuscaloosa Drug across from the old Pepitos. I can walk in with 3 prescriptions and leave with everything in about 5 minutes. And their employees NEVER act like the people at the chains.
I love my country, but don't trust my government.

This has been on local news for weeks. ALDI bought them out and does not do pharmacies in their stores. All scripts were sent to either CVS or Walgreens. I'd change to a locally owned pharmacy or Costco. Publix aint too bad either.
