I’d find a capable pro shop before letting a big box store touch my stuff. there is a difference between a retail store and an actual bow tuner

Bought my wife’s years ago and they got her draw length wrong. They did the same thing to me when I bought my first bow.

I’d find a capable pro shop before letting a big box store touch my stuff. there is a difference between a retail store and an actual bow tuner I agree. But i used to shoot for a Guy working (or so i heard) for Bass Pro in the Archery Department (IF he's still there i dunno) in Spanish Fort, he was a shop owner some years back, and a damn fine bow tuner for sure. However i can't never get him on the phone, shoot me a pm and I'll explain better....

I would spend 20 extra minutes and drive to Saraland to Scott's or Quints I'd go 2 states over or Academy before i went to Scott's 🤣 Now Brad's my buddy (at Quints) but i dunno if they ever got a tech back in the Archery Department yet or not (I'll have to txt him)

I wasn't happy with Quints or Scott's when I lived in South Alabama.
I'd try that archery unlimited place on the recommendations above before I'd go back.

I’m looking to buy a bow for my 11 year old son. I’m torn between an older model Diamond Edge that is discontinued or the new model.
If I buy the older, then i can take it wherever for setup and tuning, no problem. However, if I buy new, my local options are Bass Pro or Academy. If I buy new, I expect the place of purchase to setup and tune.

My nephew is around the same age and I plan on doing the same for him. He’s shooting a Genesis now for school but has taken interests into something a little nicer. As he gets more consistent with his new bow, I’ll start helping get his setup more in tune for him. There’s a wealth of information out there. While it may seem a little intimidating at first, there’s really nothing to working on a bow and getting one setup. You can go as deep down the rabbit hole you wanna go, but for a young man, he will be just fine with the basics.
