Is the hornady classic kit a decent kit to get into reloading with. Hundreds of people view this forum every day but no one can tell you why Hornady is is cast aluminum crap Buy something else.redding or rcbs.kits are fine but you'll need tons of other tools. Best bet read manuals then buy what you've learned

I can tell you that the online retailer customer reviews are very good for the Hornady kit. Had a former co-worker that liked his.

If you are only loading for 2 or 3 cartridges, I would think hard about a Turret style press. Either a Redding or Lyman press.
To me, the kits are just a starting point that don't have all you will need and some things you will want to upgrade. I would buy separate tools rather than a kit. Talking to an experienced loader will be a big help on developing an equipment list.

If I had to start from scratch tomorrow knowing what I do now I'd buy rcbs rock chucker supreme press, Redding big boss 2 or the lee cast iron classic cast press.if you want to get high end harrels press for sizing with k&m arbor press with gauge for bullet seating.best you can get but not necessary starting out and alot to learn before you get there.you might be that super smart person who wants to start at top.most aren't and I ain't either..now for tools /dies
Frankfort arsenal hand primer, Redding type s f/l bushing dies, bushings,21first century mandrel die with mandrels, Redding competition bullet seating die,Lee cutter and lock stud for case trimming for each cartridge (cheap easy and fool proof), Redding besm scale and several different companies reloading manuals,K&m flash hole debur tool, and Lyman vld chamfer debur tool
If you want to go cheap on dies and make very good straight ammo get Lee collet neck die, Redding bump die and Redding competition bullet seating die . you'll also need calipers with gauges to measure shoulder headspace datum shoulder bump.or just buy standard full length size dies and learn to use them by the manual and upgrade later.what I did
Sounds extremely complicated and can handload great ammo with good consistency better than any factory ammo with standard cheap dies without quite as much learning as everything I've mentioned but a great reason to start by reading multiple reloading manuals and decide for yourself first where you fit in.ive been doing this along time . I'm teaching someone I grew up with right now.im having to figure out if he wants ultimate precision or better than factory ammo loads .
Tons of info I gave you but you can message me and I can tell you how to make it easy and work your way up or start making ultimate precision ammo tomorrow.but probably best to start with basic stuff then go from there. Reloading manuals are your friend then listen to other people once you understand. But skip pretty much anything Hornady except bullets.but Hornady is still better than nothing
Lol sorry for rant but I live this stuff

Or you can buy a standard kit and figure it out yourself like I did but most folks aren't as OCD as hell like me about anything.🤣 But I grew up with a father who taught me but he is amazed at how I load ammo from what I've learned from him.spent a many days reading reloading manuals around 12 yrs old and up.dreaming up load recipes.fun fun Also if you start out with a kit get one with balance beam safety scale not a digital scale.dugital scales are affected by florescent lights and have to be warmed up and tend to drift you'll always need a balance beam scale to make sure your safe.most kits that come with digital scales are cheap digital scales.the good ones without problems cost alot and are not in kits.digital scales have to be warmed up or left on all the time and have issues unless you buy one particular very high end model and it doesn't come in a kit.lol
Maybe your someone who appreciates what I've typed? Probably not but I tried 😕 Just what I do

Talking to an experienced loader will be a big help on developing an equipment list. The only thing I use out of my RCBS kit is the rock chucker press. Don’t know where the other stuff disappeared to. I upgraded everything else pretty quick. The last thing I bought was a powder dispenser. I waited too long to get that. Iliad more shot shells than anything now. Bismuth and steel for ducks and geese.

Find a mentor close to you that will teach you the ropes and help you pick equipment. I'd go with RCBS or Redding kit or if you have to have Hornady go with the higher end stuff
