Colonoscopy prep, it’s not until tomorrow morning. This has changed since my last one. I got up with plans of have a good breakfast but my wife had read thru the instructions and I’m on jello and broth today. This prep kit starts this afternoon and is different than any of past. It’s four leaders I have to drink. It’s the generic insurance covers. If I remember right the suprep from the last time was no where near this amount. This is like a cup of powder in a gallon jug you mix with Luke warm water and shake. On the recommendation of my pharmacist I’ve got it in the fridge chilling. Just imagining the back door trots to start tonight. And sadly this is my fifth one and they never get easier.

I’ve read multiple times about people getting stuff that they only have to drink a small amount along with a bunch of water….even read where some folks get to take a few capsules with a bunch of water. Not sure I understand why some still insist you drink a gallon or 2 of some nastyass concoction. Seems unnecessary

Well I paid for the last one out of pocket and it was like 16 ozs and followed by water. I’ve never had the same type twice. The doctor this time was actually going to prescribe miralax. And I told the nurse that was a waste of time because I’d been given that in the hospital and it the same as drinking water for my system

I drank that stuff of all night the night before mine and poop first time an hour before leaving for colonoscopy. I almost didn’t get to have it done.

What’s the name of the prep? I just had one done not too long ago and I took plenvue

Sounds like you got the generic Golytely with a lot of nasty tasting fluid.

Clenpiq has two small bottles with an OK taste and a much smaller water requirement but some insurance companies won't pay for it.

You are lucky they didn't have to repeat it. If you are not clean as a whistle then the procedure is a fail because they can't clearly see everything and will require you to come back and repeat the procedure!

I have had several due to some ongoing GI issue and prefer the gatorade, dolcolax, and miralax prep. None of them are fun though.

All you need is 2 dulcolax and a 14 dose bottle of miralax. Take the 2 dulcolax, and mix the miralax in half a gallon of tea or whatever beverage you like, and start drinking it. Be sure to get some petroleum jelly for your nether region. Apply it before the first trip to the bathroom and after each successive one, and you won't be raw. If you start at 8am, you should be clear by 5pm.

I have to do one next year, I have done 2 colonoscopies and 2 sigmoids. Same prep every time.

Had this last week, 4 dulcolax at noon, 238 grams miralax in 64 oz of Gatorade, drink 8 oz every 15 minutes starting at 3 pm, overall, wasn't bad. Chicken broth was better than beef. Pineapple jello not bad either.

I feel your pain. I had to do the 64 oz of liquid like frogeye did. I guess they have to make sure your poot chute is clean. Good luck with yours!!

Some insurances cover the least invasive method, some don't. Out of pocket was a little over $125 with my insurance coverage at the time, so I had Golytely...the full nasty gallon.

It was maybe $15 for the dulcolax and miralax at walmart, all OTC. No prescription or insurance involved.

I took the dulcolax and drank the whole gallon, the first half gallon pretty much did the job when I got on the last half I was already cleaned out!! It was my first one too

Had my first done about a month ago and that’s the prep I was put on. It wasn’t as bad as I was expecting but it still sucked. I was totally cleaned out by 10 that night. I don’t have to have another one for seven more years.

Gavilyte is what I’m doing this time. Drink 8 oz every ten mins. Getting to where I can’t get off the pot in time to get the next cup down. I think this is my 5th, next time I’ll pay for the stuff insurance won’t
