There’s a little problem had bison not been hunted to near extinction. That problem is there wouldn’t have been the agricultural boom in the Midwest with millions of them still free ranging. Wouldn’t have been much fun to spend virtually everything you have to buy land, fence it, plow it up, plant, then have a herd drive through tearing the fencing down before completely destroying your investment. Not many farmers would make that mistake more than once. Right now the amount of free ranging bison on this continent is the practical amount it can handle and unfortunately it’s a fraction of what it was.
