I traveled to NC last week for work. Was told at the rental car counter I had reserved an EV for the week. Told the guy no way and they were trying to push EV's on folks. I had heard the same exchange from someone else at the counter before me. I was told they didn't have any my intended rental, mid size suv, but I could get a compact or standard size car. I was only traveling about 70 miles from the airport and was told the range on the EV was about 300 miles. Not having driven an EV before I decided it would be okay and accepted it. I chose a small suv and figured out how to get it going, driving it was not bad. The thing is it had not been fully recharged, only showing 170 mile range. Well I figured I could just find a charger and it would be okay. Fortunately the hotel had chargers. Since I was down to 100 miles I figured I better charge the thing. Not really a problem once I figured out you have to call and start a charging session, credit card required. I let it charge for 1.5 hours then went to go to dinner. The charge only cost $2.50, not to bad huh. Well, that 1.5 hour charge only gave me an additional 35 miles. I ended up charging two more times while there, one hour each time. Each charge gave me an additional 30 miles. When I returned the car it was showing a range of 54 miles left. The EV cars are not viable for someone wanting/needing to travel like I do, sometimes 600 miles a day. This whole thing just seems like a scam to be able to control our freedom of travel and push us to live in cities. No EV in my future. Make sure of your rental reservation when renting a car.

We build EV’s in the plant I work in. I wouldn’t drive one if they gave it to me.

It's the future and us rednecks just aren't smart enough to see the benefits.
EV's are a solution to a problem that doesn't exist if this administration would allow us to get back to energy independence.

My nephew had a Tesla not sure of Miele but Jim sure it’s the cheaper one. They drove it to Atlanta and stopped Once to charge. First time he’d charged the car in a few weeks. His wife uses it around Decatur for short errands. I’ve heard hit so good stories about the ford lightening and not making the range it showed. Also have heard it’s. It unheard of for EVs to be vandalized.
They’re glorified/upgraded golf carts
They’re about paybacks to their (democrats) constituents - and future control. It’s coming

It is a farce and will completely die if the federal government is made to stop giving our money away to automakers to make them. That’s the only reason they are being made it’s our money not theirs. Solyndra ring a bell I’d bet most of these pet projects that get funded come back in some form or another

The words Middle East and foreign shouldn’t be uttered when talking about oil and gas. Everything we burn should come from US owned land.

Just doing some basic figuring here based on that review. 2 hour drive from here to B-ham, one or two hours driving around B-ham, then 2 hours back to here. 6 hours of driving and it takes 3 hours to charge. That can be a normal day for me. So my 6 hour driving day just turned into 9. I then also have to use my phone to get a charge or use my CC or both. But what if I want to use cash? No option. What if I am in a hurry? Sorry, no charge station or extra time available to be in a hurry. EV's still have a very long way to go before they can be considered something I would use.

(looks like a hundred or more in Alabama) and even one in Brantley.
On a regular Saturday in the Spring and Summer 50,000 cars may go through Brantley. Not many folks want to stand around for an hour or more in Brantley waiting on a car to charge. Don't get me wrong, Brantley is fine town but it aint exactly on the tourist destination list.

There's an app called PlugShare that shows charging stations all over the country.
I was very surprised to see how many there are in Bama (looks like a hundred or more in Alabama) and even one in Brantley.
Andy has 4 in the area.
Probably 30-40% of those are broken, no longer there, or inoperable. The uptime on the private units at commercial developments and such is not good and they stay down about as much as they work, if they are even there anymore.
