Does nothing for the soil, but will allow plants to absorb calcium through the leaves if it’s needed.

I'm going to experiment on a plot with it this year. I can say, that foliar applications do help. I grew a good stand of forage soybeans on a very sandy soil with a pH around 5 this year. Put 250 lbs 13-13-13 down at planting but added 1 gal/acre of Clark's liquid when I sprayed with the plot with Glyphosate when the beans were about 6" tall. They got about waist high before I took the fence off. They handled the pressure pretty good up until it got super hot/dry and the native vegetation dried up. Then the deer nuked that plot in about 10 days.
I did learn two things out of this bean plot: 1 adding corn was not a good option for me because it limited me to one spraying and it needed at least one more application and 2 even using Gly tolerant beans you still need to put down a pre-emergent. I had a big problem with late germination sicklepod with the rain we had.
Gardeners have been using foliar applications for years. Blossom end rot in tomatoes ? The spray is usually Magnesium Sulfate. Foliar applications are common in agriculture and turf, food plotters are just late to the game. One thing to remember with foliar applications, you're feeding the plant things it can't get from the soil.

Some of those calcium products do mention spraying to prepared seedbeds in their labels. I'm not sold on those benefits when applied that way. Also make sure it's a Calcium Carbonate product not Calcium Hydroxide. CaCO3 vs CaOH
