How accurate is the ballistic data printed on the box of any brand you choose ammo?

I load the same bullet but can't find a powder to duplicate their ballistics,

I came, I saw, so I killed them all......Vern

Generally overstated, usually used a barrel length not known in nature.

Out of curiosity, what load are you trying to duplicate?

Same load can vary significantly from one rifle to another even with the same barrel length

I’ve never really chronographed factory ammo. If I’m shooting factory ammo in m doing so for the brass.

One thing to remember is the factories have access to powders we are not. A good friend that taught me reloading years ago said he talked to the owner at misled and a few other ammo guys and thats what they told him.

I’d imagine it’s somewhat close enough for the average shooter because I’d imagine they load for the average rifle.

There’s a lot of what it’s and it depends.

those ballistics are 99% grossly overstated. I personally have never seen a factory load chrono at stated velocities. EVER.

The few factory loads I've chronoed have been well short of the velocities on the box. Sometimes as much as 200+ FPS less than the box.

You need to chrono it. Most federal exceeds the speed in my testing as well as Win Silvertips, and diff loadings.

If I don’t chrono immediately I just figure the factory test was a 24” barrel and I subtract 27fps per inch loss from that. Never really failed me.
