We learned we’re just going to continue to battle broken pans and broken equipment disking over here.

We sprayed all plots today and will look to plant around rain sometime early to mid October.

Considered spraying, bush hogging, spreading seed, then lightly discing with disc blades straight to cover seed? That’s what we are going to try this year since it was so dry, and didn’t have enough thatch. I’m nowhere close to planting as dry as we are, but when we do, this is what I’m going to attempt.

I sprayed a few, mowed them, spread seed and lightly ran the disc through just to knock the seed through what thatch was there to the soil. It’ll be fine.

I’ll be later for sure. I just sprayed Friday. So I’m minimum 2 prob 3 weeks out. That’s fine with me. I planted last week of September last year and didn’t even get 0.1” on it for over a month. Didn’t look good at all. My club disked up yesterday and today and planting next weekend.

Sprayed mine Wed & Thur. So it’ll be a few weeks, not worried we have plenty of time. I will just watch the weather and we will No-Till drill before some rain.

The problem with planting right now isnt seed sitting in dry ground but it has everything to do with a open cab tractor and not being able to see the field when I'm tilling or discing because the dust is so bad
I made it through 5 fields a few days ago and had to quit because the dust was so bad

When I bush hogged last week it was awful. Cleaned my tractor screens and filter twice. Should’ve been wearing a mask. I blew and coughed up brown for two days.

Must be much drier in LA than up here in the Highlands.

Yep. It’s tough. Mine are disced and ready. I’ll go plant after a good rain.

I did some bush hogging yesterday. Got to one of my fields and was going to mow it, and saw all the sunn hemp in it and it was being pounded, so I left it alone. One I went back and sprayed with gly today, it has some horse nettle and other crap in it that I need to kill.

Yup, just do it there I have time or make time. I’ve planted at Labor Day and I’ve planted some first weekend of November they always green and do well regardless. At the end of the day they always do good. Which I don’t know why I plant em cause I don’t hardly hunt em.

Now far as my club, I just set a date and we do it rain or shine.

Yep. Y'all remember that year maybe 2016 or so? It didn't rain a single drop for 67 days (I think) in West Alabama. I think we finally got rain in November or so and stuff still germinated reasonably well, but it was getting cooler by then.

Key is to plant and let it sit…where you get in trouble like rem said above is plant early, a big rain, and then a massive drought. This is also why we wait to plant around the first week or two of October.

Just sprayed yesterday. Probably plant first week of October, although October tends to be dry down here.

Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.

My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

We're planting Friday. Like others have said, no problem letting it sit in the dirt. Gotta get it in when you have time.

Im fixin to sling some seeds out in the morning. Ive got one field disced twice. Im gona try a mix of three clovers( white dutch, crimson, arrowleaf), oats and abruzzi rye. Im hoping to have a good solid stand of clover by next year. Ground looks plenty good enough for a foodplot planting. Maybe we will get some rain, if not the seed can lay there till we do. I got alot of other stuff that needs done, its time for this now. Ill wait on regular rain for my throw n mow field.

I haven’t even thought about planting yet. Probably late October before I try

Got all fields ready to plant but don't plan on planting until 3rd or 4th weekend of Oct unless we get substantial rain before then. I'm going to go ahead and get the seed and fertilizer on hand in case I need to get it done in a hurry
