What comes over on you I would spray. The spray goes back to the roots

I have had to deal with kudzu. Talk to the neighbor and get permission, then get some Escort and spray it. Escort is slow working it will take several weeks for it to look dead. But that is what you have to do with kudzu. If you spray with Gly, it will take all the leaves off quickly, but then come back just as quickly. Then it is even harder to kill.

Already tried the talking approach. They have asked me to keep an eye on the place for them since they don’t live there, but don’t want to reciprocate the kindness by doing anything about the kudzu. I have approached trespassers for them in the past and ran them off, but apparently that did not gain any favor. It won’t happen again, though.

Have you pointed out to them, in very frank terms, that you are more than willing to do a Quid Pro Quo with them?

I would just do what you have to do. I do weed control and fertilize my own lawn, and I don't mind applying a "buffer zone" on some of their yard. In the end it saves me time and $ trying to keep what they can't seem to kill out of my yard. One has crab grass. I have about 2 feet of his yard clear of it, that's my buffer zone. I even cut it.

This.

I have done the same when the neighbors had more weeds than grass.

Except for the three feet bordering my yard. 😁

If I was the neighbor, I wouldn't pay a mulcher to come in, but I wouldn't have any problem with you maintaining it.

I remember years ago there was an evasive species ordinance on the books. It basically stated you could be held liable if a species of plant left your property and carried over to your adjoining landowner. I do not ever remember it being enforced, but I do remember folks referring to the ordinance when kudzu started getting out of control. I wish I could remember more about it but I can’t.

We have junk ordinances all over the rural area I live in so maybe kudzu could be referred to as junk and the landowner forced to clean it up! I hope things work out good for you.

It’s still for sale. They want $80,000.00 an acre. That’s not a typo, $80k an acre. I laughed when they texted me that and told them they added too many zeros in their text. They replied there was no typo. That’s insane. Not really sure what they are thinking. There’s 80 acres that joins the other side of it that the seller is asking $10k an acre. Multiple realtors have supposedly told them their price is ridiculous, including their own supposedly, but they won’t budge.

It’s hard to control some of those evasive species.

They are entitled to ask whatever they want! I would just ask if it was OK to spray about 20 yards on their side to help control the kudzu. No cost to them, you will cover labor and chemicals. Doubt they would say no to that. Sounds like they are going to be your neighbor for a long time.

“Everybody else”? Your reading comprehension sucks. I AM maintaining mine but the originating problem is coming from theirs.
