The step is there just hidden right at the bottom of that 2x4. I’d be concerned that ladder is gonna shift when it’s only held by one strap. But it might work I guess

Looks good but that top step would concern me.
May be just the angle but it looks too close to the house for a good foot hold.
I’ve had that happen myself. Be careful and good luck.

I'd suggest drilling the ladder and running some long deck screws or lag bolts through it . You could kick some 2X4 braces off and do it on the bottom also, or drive re-bar in the ground and lash the legs to it.

Yes we used 8 foot 4x4's. That sucker is up there too. Even better it was level. The road is about 20 feet behind it, and you can slip up into it without being seen.

The ladder isn't going anywhere. The 2x4 cross brace wedges the top of the ladder back into the frame of the shooting house. It doesn't move much without the strap, but adding it locked in down.

Nice. If your where it’s get below freezing turn you ladder over the coupling will let water in and freeze. I kinda know this. Makes for a weak spot in the legs.

Build you a set of steps that are safe to climb. You have a nice house, don’t cheap out with some rinky dink ladder.

This X2.

Never have understood why people put the effort to build a good house and cheap out on the stairs.

I Agree about the Stairs. Money well spent. I like that yaw backed it off the Field. Looks like a nice spot. Good Luck. 👍

Appreciate the feedback. We had the ladder laying around in camp. I had 1 piece of strap left in my bag from last year. So we put it up there and secured it. Believe it or not, its remarkably stable and easy to get in and out of. Besides, we needed to be able to see what we needed to prune.

One of your diagonal racking braces needs to go the opposite direction.

Best thing we did was to get rid of the ladders on ours and build steps.

I have a set of elevator brackets like those waiting to be put to use. It's to late to build one for use this season (no time on my part), but I'm gonna start buying lumber a little at a time and get one built for next season.
