Do you use it?
Do you think its worth it?
I do not, at the moment trying to see if its worth it.

Budget Billing is a free service that averages the highs and lows of your electric bills by giving you an average price to pay each month. You pay the same amount in the end, but with budget billing it is levelized.
is how its described. for the ones that has never looked into it.

Back in the day when I lived in an APCO service area I liked it because of the predictability. I knew going into every month what I would be on the hook for. But that was over 20 years ago. I imagine its changed some since then.

We use it to help cut down our cost during the summer months when everything else is higher ( fuel, travelling expenses, boating etc)

You will pay in full for the power you use, it is just spread out over 12 months to keep your bill close to the same amount each month to help budgeting.
If it helps you to pay a bill that is a similar price each month then I guess it is worth it but there is no cost savings.
Some folks like it, some don’t need it.

Due to last month mine went up $90 dollars...I'm thinking of getting off it this winter since I have gas heat...but I think when you come off the plan they try to bill you 2 months worth. From my understanding you are signed up 12 months when you commit.

I use levelized billing with Dixie Electrical Co-op here in central Al. you settle up when you move away from the service address but I like it is predictable.

I use it and love it. I know what my payment is going to be every month. They can adjust it, but it generally doesn't vary month to month much. Mine actually was up earlier in the year and came back down, but I'm only talking like within $20-30's worth of difference. I'm on FPL now, but it's the same program as it was previously Gulf Power. Same here. This months went up about $40 but then again we are running the AC like we stole it, so I was expecting it. It will drop back down around the end of the year

I used it for a few years before. It saves zero dollars but does make the bill more predictable as others have stated. If you come off of it they bill you whatever your actual difference is to get everything back to square even. In my case they owed me a few bucks and credited my account.

When I was with Al Power I liked it for the dependability of having an idea what my bill would be. Never had any issues.

I had an Al Power guy say that this was the biggest scam ever. Who looks back to see if you're billed correctly ?Nobody So APCO is robbing everyone on budget billing, and no one has called them on it? I don't think so. I used budget billing when I was with APCO. As others have stated, it makes it nice to know what the bill is going to be, and not have to deal with the fluctuations between winter and summer. When I moved and left APCO they actually owed me money, and cut me a check.

With Covington Electric you can see what your bill would be if you were not on budget billing. "True up" month is in April each year and a few years we ended up with a decent credit (enough one time to take care of May's bill entirely and still had some left over toward June). The last couple years the average bill went up some, but not a lot for the other 11 months. Their only requirement to be eligible for it is that you have paid your bill on time for the previous 12 months.

I been using it for years. I doubt you save any money but it does keep the bill consistant, which i like. This. They will adjust it to reflects increased usage.
