Have an aluminum bodied fuel pump that broke off an ear that took a mounting bolt. The pump worked fine and seems to be in perfect condition otherwise. I have zero welding skills but I cant find anyone nearby who can fix it. New pump is pricey so I want to fix this one. I know better but I swear it looks like I could slap some super glue on it and put it back together (nice clean break) and get back on the road. Anybody know a shop or SKILLED individual that I can take it to in the B'ham metro (I'm in Leeds). If I can't find someone this will turn out to be my first welding project and I already know it will end in disaster because I'm not a welder, but the only alternative would be to buy a new pump so I might as well. I really would rather let someone do it who knows what they are doing.

Welding May heat the internal components too much and ruin them

Pics would help. TIG welding isn’t cheap. Not sure how much the fuel pump was but the repair very well could cost more

I think JB Weld makes an epoxy specifically for aluminum........I've seen JB Weld successfully fix stuff that it had no business fixing...

This. Honestly, I would JB weld that joker up and let it ride.

If it broke through the hole can you put a large flat washer on it and use as is? Or leave that one out if the others will hold it? Like Deadeye said , gotta be careful with heat around that thing .

Welding cast aluminum is about 50/50 at best. With it being a stress point, I'd guess it's a 10% chance of it staying "fixed."

They also make a 2 part putty called weld stik. I’ve patched several items with it and it has held up well. I like that it’s mailable and you can really make it how you need it.

That seems to be a common occurrence on here and pretty much everywhere.
It amazes me when folks give horribly wrong advice on something that I know a lot about.
Usually that expert advice is coming from someone with little or no experience in that field.
It also scares the hell out of me because there’s a lot of things that I don’t know anything about and have to take other people’s advice.

Well…what would the real experts do to fix the pump? grin

Precision welding isn’t in my skill set, so I’m no help to the OP.
I just have sense enough to know it and not give him bad advice.

However, if this happened to me, I know a fella that could fix it.
