Your powerbill is looking less like a light bill and more like a modest monthly mortgage payment

Your powerbill is looking less like a light bill and more like a modest monthly mortgage payment yes indeed it does....actually, I don't see why the bill isn't higher than that with all the power sucking appliances and electronics in the house,,, power bill drops to less than half this amount once cool and cold weather sets back in though....

I don't care if mine is $1000. I'm not sweating in my house. I do enough of that during the day.
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

I was raised to be thrifty and turn lights off immediately Me too, I constantly walk behind the wife turning lights out.

I keep the thermostat on 71 auto all year, someone home 99% of the time. Got my bill from AL power yesterday, $235. Just over 2100 sq ft, 4bd/3ba; I have zero trees for shade. I built in 2016 and foam insulated the whole thing and installed a pretty good Bryant Infinity Hvac. Other considerations for efficiency were LED lights, standing seam metal roof with no penetrations, front/rear porches to cover windows as much possible, and Anderson Silverline windows. The only “bad” (almost $300) power bills I’ve had yet are from the few single digit days and running on emergency heat strips.
Anyone who’s paying a ton of money would do well to spend money fixing insulation gaps, replacing old inefficient hvac, etc. I’ve got a guy at work who pays $500 per month while overrunning his ancient hvac and multiple window units instead of getting it replaced. Seems to me he could spend the same money for a little while and have a new unit but I could be wrong.

Def cheaper to “build right” vs alternative power production.
