I think I am not getting off the porch without them any more. Two weeks ago killed a 5’3” Diamondback in our driveway my wife walks the dog down every morning, last week my neighbor killed a Timber that looked about the same size In his yard and yesterday sealed the deal. Every day we do a ride around the place and there is a nice clean stretch of road my wife walks/runs our puppy to get some energy out of it . I slowly drive the Ranger in front of them because I have a hard time walking very far. As I slowly cruised along the biggest Diamondback I have ever seen crossed the road in front of me rattling his arse off. The dam thing was HUGE. Solid 6’ and thicker than my forearm. I have been in the woods and around snakes my whole life and that one made my hair stand on end.

Was weeding the garden yesterday and almost grabbed this little guy. Heart skipped a few beats when I saw it recoil after pulling a weed just inches from him. I think it scared him too cause his head fell off shortly after this picture. [Linked Image]

My labs alerted me to a Cottonmouth in their pen last week. I eased their worries smile

Yeah, those guys suck. I posted a video of my brother killing a big diamond back on Facebook the other day and everyone was lit up. It amazed my how many people are snake lovers. I'm perfectly fine with eradicating them, but apparently it's no longer socially acceptable to kill a rattler lol

I will maintain this stance till I die. Rattlesnakes DO NOT want to be botherd nor do they come after you like people say unless they are provoked. I stepped on a timber rattler bigger that my forearm and it never rattled. Clay Co, during August "dog days". Snake had clouded eyes and look about ready to shed. Supposedly worst time to be around one since they cannot see good and they strike at anything. This one did not.

Copperheads, they are a different story straight out of lucifer's loins.. They will seek you out and go after you if they are anywhere near you. Rattlesnakes startle me, but copperheads scare me.

I walked by a 5' Timber Rattler in 1985 and took a bite to the left calf. I did not provoke or even see him till he hit me. I was turkey hunting, walking to get around a gobbler. They ain't all friendly and passive.

My cousin’s bf and I were working on my a/c unit yesterday afternoon and happened to be standing on a pallet next to the unit. He ended up dropping a screw down between the slats and so we flipped over the pallet in order to get a better look and sure enough there was a ft long timber rattler curled up under there taking a nap. I bet he was no bigger around than a snuff can coiled up under there. I kill them all except king snakes and coach whips for the most part

Coworker’s son got bit by a moccasin a couple of months ago. Total medical bill was over $100k with initial treatment and antivenin in a rural hospital, then advanced treatment and more antivenin in Mobile.

I almost stepped on one that looked just like that snake at dusk dark a couple of weeks ago. My Wife seen it and screamed and I was almost to step on it. I jumped with adrenaline flowing strong. It looked like a really small rattlesnake to Me and I killed it.

I get that they are beneficial to the eco system and everything and I will usually leave them alone if not on my property. However, any venomous snake I find on my property gets an automatic death sentence. I like to know that even though I may be bitten one day, it won’t be from THAT snake!

I have had copperheads (and cottonmouths) come out of the woods to fight my tractor. Last year a nice copperhead lost that battle with my disk. He might have been a bad ass in the woods but that disk turned him into three or four 1 foot chunks.
