Everything hurts when you pass 50. I don't have an answer for your question.
When my Dad saw me wince about a pain in my knees, back, shoulders, ankles, etc, he just say, Does it hurt? Well it doesn't get any better.

Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.
My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

Did you give yourself the diagnosis or did you go to the doc for an xray ?
Outside, inside, both ?

Read up on some of the "regenerative" therapies available for this type of injury/problem. These folks are in Ft. Meyers, but care of this type is becoming more available everywhere. I have personal experience w/ Caring Medical, and they are incredible "healers". You will learn a lot just reading their literature. This is "Prolotherapy". https://www.caringmedical.com/conditions/prolotherapy-treatment-ankle-pain/

Without seeing a doc, best you can really do is RICE and some Motrin as needed, and maybe google some exercises to help strengthen it
(RICE = Rest Ice Compression Elevate…….in other words, stay off it as much as possible, elevate it and ice it periodically)

I was having a problem with my big toe. Like you described. It'd get better then flare up again. Finally started wearing some 6" boots. Haven't had a problem since. Mine seemed to get worse on uneven ground. I know our problem is kinda different, but maybe the solution is the same. Worth a try anyways

Reads like you have a small tear(s) in a tendon that you keep aggravating A steroid shot may be the cure for what’s ailing you

I used to struggle with what I thought was tendinitis. Turned out it was much worse. Found out the hard way by tearing my Achilles’ tendon from my heel and my calf muscle. Doc said he thought it was already torn in places before it self destructed. One little jump off of a hill while deer hunting done me in.

I agree - not sure what can help other than daily Advil, etc. Unless you go see a doctor and get something stronger

Go see your doctor or a specialist.
There are no tips or tricks to get healed. Persistent, painful tendinitis requires a specific diagnosis, treatment, possibly rehab, and possibly a change of shoes and other things including losing weight if you're overweight or obese.

You taking any meds, been to a doc? Had a reaction to Levaquin in 2012 that caused problem with my left achilles tendon. Ibuprofen helped initially, doc gave me an anti inflammatory. Still have trouble with it feeling tight all the time. I can’t take Levaquin either. It caused tendinitis in my wrist and arms something terrible.

I had several episodes of tendonitis. Heal, knee, both elbows. Ended up with a complete rupture of bicep tendon at left elbow. They decided it was caused by extended doses of Ciprofloxican they were prescribing me for prostate infection.

They decided it was caused by extended doses of Cephalexin they were prescribing me for prostate infection. That’s EXACTLY what I was taking Levaquin for. I bounced around with several antibiotics until doxycycline finally took care of it. And to make it even more weird, it was rickettsia bacteria that had found its way there (Rocky Mt spotted fever). None of the previous meds were going to kill it anyway. It wasn’t until I tested for tick illnesses that it revealed it.

Still have trouble with it feeling tight all the time. I can’t take Levaquin either. It caused tendinitis in my wrist and arms something terrible. Dang, you had the plague/anthrax or something? "What is Levaquin? Levaquin is a fluoroquinolone (flor-o-KWIN-o-lone) antibiotic that fights bacteria in the body. Levaquin is used to treat different types of bacterial infections. Levofloxacin is also used to treat people who have been exposed to anthrax or certain types of plague. Fluoroquinolone antibiotics can cause serious or disabling side effects. Levaquin should be used only for infections that cannot be treated with a safer antibiotic. Warnings Levaquin can cause serious side effects, including tendon problems, nerve damage, serious mood or behavior changes, or low blood sugar."
