I have decided to leave the disc where it is sitting this year and buy a tiller. I plan on using @ 40 horse power tractors to till dirt with it. What are the brands that have served you the best? My grounds are not rocky and I will be using this tiller many times a year. I looked at Rural King and they look cheap to me. Let me hear your experiences with them.

Thanks.

Terraforce. May have to call to locate a dealer but they are worth it. Look for gear drive and weight. My yjr84 is around 1200 pounds and eats roots, hard ground etc. I believe it has a 5 yr warranty. Ive done all of our green fields with it, garden, etc. Does a great job and doesnt shake like a cartoon alarm clock in tough ground.

Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one with deep ruts, hills and mud.It may be bumpy but WHAT A RIDE!

Quick question: I have a friend who tilled into a piece of steel under the ground and it tore up his tiller. Is there any kind of a shear pin???? That is in place to keep this from happening or was this just an isolated happening. All my ground has been row cropped at one time or other but you never really know what you can get into that is covered with soil.

Mine has a slip clutch to prevent pto damage. Heres a video of me using mine. You can see the slip clutch.

This^^^
We have a 5’ and a 6’. Only issue I had was a seal started leaking on the gear box. King kutter sent me a new one at no charge. The 6’ is an 07 model and the 5’ is around 2010 model. Both get used a lot!!

I’m using a 6’ Land Pride and love it. It has a slip clutch also.

Rural King has 2 different lines. I bought one from there earlier this year and so far it's been great in my Sand Mountain soil. It hasn't had a chance to stand the test of time yet though.

Slip clutch included

We bought from here we have had it about 6 years. It’s a well built strong tiller.

We've got a 7' Kuhn tiller that's lived through some rough stuff. It was used when my dad bought it. I have no idea how old it is, but it's built like a tank. A 7' is way too big for a 40 HP tractor, just telling you what size we have.

The King Kutter Professional gear driven tillers are tough as nails. Comes with a slip clutch as well.

I have a terra force 6’ model. It’s greasy for this gumbo mud around Montgomery. The lighter duty brands are fine but make sure you buy a chain driven model. A chain driven is ok. I’ve had both chain and gear drive. A chisel plow or something to break the ground before tilling also will improve the look of your plots. That being said, a tiller is a one pass tool for most plots and gardens.

It be's that way sometimes.
