Anyone dream of shooting a bull and think this could be your year?
A buddy and I have been planning on going to Colorado in September on an OTC DIY archery hunt. 2 days ago something came up and he will no longer be able to come with me. Anyone looking to go out west for 16 days and want to split drive time, gas, pack out, and elk meat (if successful)? Haha. It's going to be my second trip out there if I go. I'm not an expert, but I was successful in getting a nice bull my first time out there 2 years ago. I'm off work sept 6-21.
I know this is weird, but I've been looking forward to going and I'm running out of options besides driving there and hunting alone. I don't mind hunting alone, but my wife would rather I try to find someone to go with me. The drive is what I would dread doing alone. So even if you want to hunt alone we could drive and camp together and split up to hunt.

Man I’d love to go again, I’ve been twice, the last time in 2017. The 16 days would probably be too long for me also, I might could do 2 weeks max? I’ll send you a PM, thanks Robinhedd

Who the heck has 16 days to burn lol I’d be somewhat interest if it was like a week or something, but 16 days? No thanks. Good luck there. I know it's not likely, but a week doesn't give you enough time to do what needs to be done on an unguided trip. That'd be 4 days driving and 3 days hunting.

Damn...
If I was retired sooner I would go. That sounds like an amazing trip.
I'll mention it to my son in law, he's a great hunter and bow hunts all the time. I doubt he can go though. Don't think he can take that many days off.

Last time I think I had 13 days off and used every one of them. Killed one the morning we were supposed to head back. Took us all day to get it out of the woods (shot right after daylight, got final load to truck after dark). We stayed at a hotel that night for about 5 hours and I took my buddies to the airport because they had to be back at work and I stayed an extra night to wait on rushed processing. Drive back alone. 3 days isn't enough time.

Good luck. I hope your area didn’t hit as hard as some did with winter kill. It’s not looking good for us. The unit I killed mine in isn't otc anymore. It changed the year after we went.

Y'all wouldn't believe how hard it is to find someone to go out of state hunting for 16 days on 5 weeks notice. 😂

I’m already going by myself to Idaho for 14 days or I’d go with you Most people seem to think it is a bad idea for me to go alone. I'd dread the drive on both ends of the trip if I were to go alone, but hunting for that many days would be nice.
